Meetings with Cepelia on Chmielna Street

From May until September 2010 Cepelia organizes monthly “Meetings with Cepelia on Chmielna Street”. Their purpose is to present folk art, craft and rites of the most interesting Polish regions. On Chmielna Street (from 8 Chmielna St, Cepelia’s premises to Nowy Świat) folk artists and craftsmen were presenting their skills and selling their products. Children could participate in pottery workshops. Each meeting was enriched with concerts of folk ensembles.

The cycle was inaugurated on 22nd-23rd of May by the meeting devoted to the Kurpie region. On 12th – 13th of June the Łowicz region was presented and on the first weekend of June the visitors could get acquainted with art and folklore of the Małpolska region.

Meetings in September:

4th-5th of September 2010: Ethno fair
18th-19th of September 2010: Regional and artistic pottery

During the fifties CEPELIA cooperative “Brąz Dekoracyjny” restored the monument of Fryderyk Chopin that was destroyed during the World War II. The monument, placed in the Royal Baths in Warsaw, was designed in the beginning of the XXth century by Wacław Szymanowski. New, reconstructed monument was unveiled in 1958.
