34th Fair of Folk Art in Krakow

34th Fair of Folk Art in Krakow will take place on 20-29th of August 2010. 10 days of the Fair will be devoted to different countries, regions and cities. Folk artists and craftsmen, as well as folk story-tellers, cultural centers, regional associations will present their skills and products. The Main Square will host around 120 stalls with folk art and craft run by Cepelia cooperatives and folk artists.Visitors will find representatives of Slovakia, Czech Republic, Germany, Austria, Hungary, Ukraine, Belarus, Russia and Lithuania among 450 exhibitors.

10 days of Fair of Folk Art will be a chance to watch performances of 140 folk ensembles from all over the world. Among them – Cepelia folk ensembles as well as participants of the International Festival of highland Folklore from Asia, Africa, South America and Europe.

Program of the 24th Fair of Folk Art
20th of August 2010 (Friday): 12.00, Main Market Square on the Stage near the Town Hall Tower  – The opening ceremony.
21st of August 2010 (Saturday): The day of Pińczów town and community.
22nd of August 2010 (Sunday): The day of Opole city.
23th of August 2010 (Monday): The day devoted to the Zakopane city, Tatrzański county and the Interational Highland Folklore Festival in Zakopane.
24th of August 2010 (Tuesday): The day devoted to the 670 anniversary of the Tarnów city.
25th of August 2010 (Wednesday): The day devoted to the 1200 anniversary of
Cieszyn.
26th of August 2010 (Thursday): The day of Ukraine.
27th of August 2010 (Friday): The Slovak republic day
28th of August 2010 (Saturday): The day of “the borderline of cultures”.
29th of August 2010 (Sunday): The Podhale region market.

DID YOU KNOW?

During the fifties CEPELIA cooperative “Brąz Dekoracyjny” restored the monument of Fryderyk Chopin that was destroyed during the World War II. The monument, placed in the Royal Baths in Warsaw, was designed in the beginning of the XXth century by Wacław Szymanowski. New, reconstructed monument was unveiled in 1958.
