FOLKLORE IS ALIVE ! Folklore in contemporary design exhibition

A fresh perspective on traditional folklore. A joint exhibition of artists from the Visegrád countries will be presented at the gallery of Czech Centre Prague between March 4 and April 4, 2011. Free entry! Dita Hálová, a young designer interested in folklore, was chosen to be the curator of Folklore is Alive! She invited Tomáš Kadeřábek to be the exhibition architect and Jana Hradcová to be the graphic designer. read more »

Results of the “Souvenir from Poland” competition

CEPELIA Foundation invites you to take part in the „SOUVENIR FROM POLAND” contest.  It is a part of  the celebrations of its 60th birthday. The aim of the competition is to obtain new, original souvenirs that would promote Poland. 60 years of Cepelia

This year Cepelia celebrates its 60th birthday. The 60 years of the organization' history reflects everything that has come to pass in Poland's recent history. Regardless, however, of all the transformations, changing opportunities and conditions for its operation, Cepelia has remained faithful to its fundamental goal of promoting art rooted in Polish native traditions. There have always existed two undercurrents in Cepelia's activity: folk art associated with the work of country artists and decorative art, artistic handicraft. The native art ideas have inspired the creative work of the plastician artists and found their expression in fabric, ceramics, furniture, wickery, etc. read more »

34th Fair of Folk Art in Krakow

34th Fair of Folk Art in Krakow will take place on 20-29th of August 2010. 10 days of the Fair will be devoted to different countries, regions and cities. Folk artists and craftsmen, as well as folk story-tellers, cultural centers, regional associations will present their skills and products. The Main Square will host around 120 stalls with folk art and craft run by Cepelia cooperatives and folk artists. read more »

Meetings with Cepelia on Chmielna Street

From May until September 2010 Cepelia organizes monthly “Meetings with Cepelia on Chmielna Street”. Their purpose is to present folk art, craft and rites of the most interesting Polish regions. On Chmielna Street (from 8 Chmielna St, Cepelia’s premises to Nowy Świat) folk artists and craftsmen were presenting their skills and selling their products. Children could participate in pottery workshops. Each meeting was enriched with concerts of folk ensembles. read more »

Cepeliada 2010 in Sopot

From 27th of July until 1st of August in Sopot Cepeliada - one of the oldest and most popular events devoted to the presentation of folk art and craft from the whole Poland was held. Until the 1st of August the pier in the city of Sopot hosted more then 100 folk artists and craftsmen, as well as Polish and international folk ensembles performing in the concert bowl. read more »

My world – exhibition

In July and August CEPELIA Foundation organizes the exhibitions of works created by the participants of the UNIKAT occupational therapy workshop from Katowice. The exhibition “My world” is shown in the “Na Piętrze” Gallery in Warsaw from 8th of July until 15th of August. Each of the authors whose works are shown at the exhibition is different and creates mostly under the influence of their own imagination and own perception of the world. They create mainly for themselves and their creations are part of their lives, telling us something new and interesting about the authors, world and ourselves. DID YOU KNOW?

During the fifties CEPELIA cooperative “Brąz Dekoracyjny” restored the monument of Fryderyk Chopin that was destroyed during the World War II. The monument, placed in the Royal Baths in Warsaw, was designed in the beginning of the XXth century by Wacław Szymanowski. New, reconstructed monument was unveiled in 1958.
